ENCO 4364: Wind power project
PART ONE MATERIALS
THE "Part 1" assignment is due as of 9 PM on Tuesday, November 18, but I will accept it through Thursday without penalty. I prefer you deliver your report via email in PDF or MS Word format.
PLEASE NOTE: For your analysis of the second two sites, you only need to produce a wind speed histogram and a wind rose for the 50 m. data, not for all three heights. The assignment sheet incorrectly says to produce histograms and wind roses for each of the three heights.
SAMPLE REPORT: The sample report linked below has been revised and completed, and now contains a modest amount of guidance on grading.
BONUS POINTS AVAILABLE: If you spot an error in my calculations on the Sample worksheet - an incorrect range reference, for example, or an error in a formula - then you can obtain up to 10 extra points on this assignment. The first student to email me with notice of an error will be awarded credit. If I get notice of a serious error I'll alert the class via email and post a note here. Please try to be as specific as possible when reporting an error AND if possible provide the appropriate correction.
BONUS POINT UPDATE #1: One set of mistakes found and corrected. If you downloaded the spreadsheets before about 5:30 PM Thursday, there is an error in the calculation of the final number going into the histograms (which is why the last column value is too high). Fixed in the current posted versions, so download the new charts or fix the error yourself.
BONUS POINT UPDATE #2: I have received two additional reports of mistakes, one affecting the Sample Report and other involving the titles in the Sample analysis charts. While these mistakes don't affect the results of the analysis, it is worthwhile (and worth bonus points to the responsible party) to ferret out such errors.
